Woody is a great guy to work with and did a great job overall. This was my first home, and I had a lot of questions for him during the inspection, which he was happy to answer. The only thing that is keeping me from giving an A rating is that I just found out that my popcorn ceilings which are deteriorating contain 4% asbestos. It would have been nice to have known of that possibility before I bought the house.
I had not bought or sold a home is 25 years and this was the first experience with home inspectors. Randy was recommended by my agent selling my existing house. The house I am buying is a private sale. The appointment was for 8 AM and Randy was there early and was already on the roof doing the inspection. He allow me to follow along with him and he explained everything as he went, provided answers to all my silly questions, and even explain the operation of things I was not familiar with. He finished on time and even supplied a small binder with tabs for various documents.
To start, within the first couple of days we immediately noticed several issues that should have been caught on inspection; such as a ceiling fan not functioning, outlets not functioning, drains not draining properly and water pressure not good. There was also an issue where the washer drain hose was not connected to the drain, which should have bee noticed during an inspection and if the washer had been ran, as noted in the inspection. Fast forward to a couple of weeks later and this is where a major plumbing issue was found, again a complete miss by the inspection company.
I had an “inspection” done by Randy, on my first house that I bought, and the inspection should have never passed. I called him about the rusty breaker box, that has burnt wires inside it, and never got a call back. I’m now dealing with the warranty company that wants me to pay a portion of the repairs. One of them is to relocate the breaker box, that should have been on the inspection report but wasn’t, nor was the burnt wires. On top of this, I don’t want to plug anything in, or turn anything on that draws a lot of power. Therefore I’m without air conditioning, or a refrigerator. My dinner has come through a window for months now. Now this company is saying that all of this was mentioned in the report. There’s nothing in the report about burnt wires, or a rusty breaker box. They’re also correct that I couldn’t be there for the inspection but, they’re the “professionals”, and I shouldn’t have to be there to hold their hand. It says something that I had to leave a google review to get a response from them. I wouldn’t recommend this company for anything.
As I have never used this business the mear fact of unprofessionalism in an above review has me questioning this business. I have bought a home and most generally you are not at the home during the inspection as this is done prior to actually signing the loan. Typically a bad review would get the owners attention and reach out to said customer to make things right. Here I see that didn’t happen. There are plenty of other home inspection companies out there that would make this right. The inspection company i used could tell you exactly how pieces of pebbles had fallen off of a shingle on your roof. This definitely seems like a task that fox 4 would take on. If you aren’t afraid we all would like to see said inspection notes to see if what you say is correct versus what is actually happening inside the home.
There are many options out there for companies to use for home inspections. As a Realtor I have recommended this company several times to multiple buyers. My clients as well as myself have been impressed each time. From their admin to their inspectors, their level of professionalism, promptness, and vast array of knowledge have surpassed expectations. I especially love how Randy walks my 1st time home buyers through their inspections and explains in detail what he sees and why it may or may not be a concern. He even pops them a bag of popcorn to insure their microwave works. 🙂 This company has referred to my clients and I other professionals when needed who have all been wonderful people to work with as well. Stacy makes it incredibly easy to schedule inspections and is very easy to communicate with. I will continue to recommend Adams Home Inspections to everyone I know as I can trust they will take care of my clients. ***I do not receive any sort of compensation for referring clients to this or any other company, this review just reflects my personal opinion***
