City of Omaha Permits & Inspectors
In response to recommendations from the Douglas County Health Department, city, state and federal governments, the Urban Planning Division is making adjustments to our normal operating procedures effective Monday, November 16th, 2020. Procedures may continue to be updated based on new information. The Omaha/Douglas Civic Center building that the Planning Department is located in at 1819 Farnam Street will have very limited access to the public through December 31st, 2020. Please note that all board deadlines and meeting dates are on as scheduled including the December 2nd, 2020 Planning Board meeting. Obviously this is a fluid situation and we will update this website if anything changes.
Please see the home page of each Division for more specifics. This notice may continue to be updated based on new information. Please check back often.
I’ve never been to the actual office but I love how easy it is to pull a permit on the Omaha Permits website. Wonderful and efficient system.
There were two individuals at the front desk helping customers. They were both very patient and helpful (I eavesdropped a bit. The waiting area is tiny). My agent, J.M., walked me through the entire process of finishing my basement. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy everything was.
The heat was turned on the next day (after being off for 1 year). I call that fast, efficient service. They were extremely polite and helpful.
