After researching the many options, I decided to meet with Erik North of Free Energy, Maine. I was very impressed with his knowledge and credentials, and his skill in educating me on the entire process. I basically knew nothing about the energy auditing world, and most of all how to connect the dots to Efficiency Maine’s rebate opportunities. No surprise, I hired him, and he has taken the initiative to meet with my contractors to discuss the energy saving renovations that I have chosen as a result of his testing process and detailed formal analysis. ( Which, by the way, was easy to translate, and actually a bit of a fun read!) This process was critical in making an informed decision on how, and with what heating source, I will most economically heat my house going forward.

We started with an energy audit, and Erik produced several proposals for energy efficiency work we could do with the building. Erik worked very well coordinating the various aspects of the work, and was very proactive about communicating progress and updates. I feel like the fee he charged was more than compensated for by having his expertise help guide the contractors work. He managed to find cost savings along the way as well. I would definitely recommend Erik as an energy auditor and Project Manager for energy efficiency work.

Impressive commitment to customer satisfaction. We contacted Free Energy Maine for an energy audit of our 100 year old house and decided to reinsulate the attic, basement, and main living spaces. Opted to take advantage of project management service and have interior portions of exterior walls demo’d and reinsulated with spray foam, with cellulose blown in on second floor and inaccessible portions of first floor, as well as the replacement of two exterior doors. Very satisfied with the results. Our house is now significantly warmer and quieter than previously and we are already seeing decreased energy usage this winter. Erik and Andrew were very responsive to questions and concerns and swiftly and skillfully managed contractors to get the work done properly. We felt like our project was a priority to the company and Free Energy Maine’s commitment to ensuring that the work was done promptly and properly was absolutely outstanding. Their intent to establish an ongoing relationship with clients rather than complete a transaction is unusual and refreshing and we will be in touch for more projects in future.

Eric was extremely helpful in breaking down the steps, options and timeline to get my large building more energy efficient. Not only was the work completed as scheduled but every question I had was treated with respect and answered with surprising quickness. Excellent communication made the job go smoothly.

Free Energy Maine was excellent to work with, responsive, and a great resource through the process. The audit report was vital to give me a roadmap to how to complete the air-sealing myself before having cellulose blown into my attic. It definitely would not have been done correctly without their information in hand. They did the pre-and post insulation audit and even filed the paperwork for the rebate for me. I would highly recommend them!
