Greater Boston Home Inspectors
Jon Haywood was trained as a Home Inspector by the son of the founder of American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI), who had achieved more than 25,000 inspections. After more than 10 years with that company, Jon left to start his own home inspection business – Greater Boston Home Inspections.
He brought with him the experiences of having inspected the oldest homes on Martha’s Vineyard and Newton, celebrity properties including players from the Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins, Revolution & Celtics, and thousands more in the Boston area and suburban communities like Newton, Chestnut Hill, Weston, Wellesley, Dover, Lexington, Sudbury, Needham, Natick and many others. With more than 6,000 homes inspected, Jon has the experience to tackle new or older properties.
John responded to a message left on his phone quite quickly and was able to accomodate a fairly tight requirement (which is always the case for an inspection related to a house purchase). His price wasn’t the cheapest but was highly competitive and given the types of reports, a great deal. The only reason for a slight mark down is that he was around 15-20 minutes late to the appointment. Traffic is hard to predict but it would have been a non-issue if he called as soon as it was obvious he would be late. There is a lot to arrange in advance of an inspection.
Jon was recommended to us by our realtor Irene Kerzner. He is very familiar with metro-west communities and older homes. He performed a very thorough home inspection a week after our offer was accepted. Jon arrived on time and was very polite and professional. We walked though the entire house inside and out and Jon pointed out everything he was looking at.
John was one of a few inspectors that were able to schedule an appointment on a short notice (< 1 week). He did perform the pre-sales home inspection and radon inspection; though comparing to other inspectors he did not provide any images or email report. He did not spent even 2 hours inspecting the property. He seem to be more enjoying cracking jokes than performing actual inspection. He could not find any serious issues, though according to the roofing contractors roof need to be replaced; also attic ventilation was done with a single gable vent, which was not adequate, and roof was having breathing issues. His "free home consultation as long as you own a home" seems useless.
Best inspector I’ve worked with. Detailed report. Thorough inspection. Great recommendations for all home repairs.
He learns the ins and outs or your house and educates you on your purchase so you can have peace of mind.
