Do NOT buy a home without talking to Steve Hodgden!! We moved to KC area this year and began the home buying process. We were so fortunate to be referred to Steve, former President of ASHI. We wanted an inspector that the real estate agents fear! He REALLY knows his stuff. He helped us avoid buying two homes that were a nightmare, with major structural damage, water leaks, foundation problems, overgrown trees, faulty wiring, and overall poor construction.

It went very well. He was in contact with us prior to the inspection to discuss any concerns we may have with the house and to answer general questions about the process. Steve was punctual and spent a considerable amount of time inspecting the property. After the inspection, he sat down with us and spent well over an hour going over his findings. He let us know which items were “fix now” as opposed to “fix later”. His official written report complete with pictures was sent to us the next day.

Steve was thorough and explained every thing he was looking for; why it was or wasn’t good. Completely unbiased. He saved me from purchasing a home that had a fire from the basement all the way through to the attic.. he noticed that the seller had tried to cover it up in the basement.. by the time we got to the attic there was no denying that there had been a devastating fire. I used his company once more on the home I currently own. I can’t say enough good things about him. His thorough inspection saved me from what could have been a huge.. huge mistake. We are now in our “forever” home (according to the wife) thanks to Steve. I would highly recommend his services to any of my friends and anyone looking to purchase a home.
