Frank was our inspector from Pro Chek and he was as thorough and honest an inspector as one could want. He looked at everything inside the house, outside the house, around the property with an eagle eye and pointed out everything that could be a problem then or down the road. Frank kept us from buying a house that looked good on the outside but had all sorts of expensive problems underneath the pretty veneer. Walking with him was an education.
ProChek was referred to us by our realtor. They offered the radon and water tests, which we did take and had to pay extra for. We hired ProChek because they come out and do the final walkthrough to ensure repairs are made correctly. ProChek misdiagnosed a mold problem – ensuring the Seller’s could clean up the moisture themselves. ProChek then during the final walkthrough signed off on all repairs being made. We purchased the home and came to find some mold under a molding upstairs and called in a professional mold remediator for a review.
Jason was everything a home inspector should be. He arrived a few minutes before the scheduled time, explained what he was going to do, and went right to work. He welcomed being shadowed, explaining what he was doing and pointing out all the good, bad and ugly he uncovered. He was utterly thorough, beginning an outside inpection and continuing inside going room by room, taking pictures, entering data on his computer, and explaining his findings. He took his time and seemed to leave no stone unturned.
My wife and I bought our first home back in October of 2018. I never got a chance to write this review but I feel people deserve to know about who they are hiring. During the inspection I followed the inspector around and I raised several concerns. I was insured the house was fine and everything I was noticing was just caused by settling. The report backed up what he was saying. We went through with the sale with the comfort and confidence that we used a recommended and reputable company. Not even a week after closing we began to have doors replaced in the house because none of them properly closed (another thing I was told that was caused by settling) the carpenter that was coming to do the work informed us the doors could get fixed but they would go right back to being misaligned is no time due to the fact that we had a much larger problem. The foundation on the house had failed and the house had been falling. Upon further inspection we discovered there were rotten lally columns, completely missing lally columns, and the beam holding up the house was too small and inadequate to hold it. We got second third and fourth opinions from builders, contractors etc. Each agreed we bought a house with a failed foundation. A first time home owners worst nightmare, or really any home owner for that matter. We contacted pro chek who denied any responsibility for their inability to see these huge red flags. They came out to look at the issues and even completely denied they were there at all. Their lack of knowledge cost us thousands in repairs and caused us to buy a problem we never would have purchased had we been properly informed and had they properly inspected. In the end my wife and I fought with them for about five months back and forth on this issue. They didn’t even give us our inspection fee back for their huge errors. People make mistakes but they needed to own up to and take responsibility for the huge oversights that were made. I would have never went with this company if I had known this is how they conducted themselves.
Worked with Frank Iaconetti and he was professional, thorough, and super helpful!
