The Home Doctor Inspectors
The Home Doctor is a service-oriented, multi-inspector firm serving Alabama since 1994. We understand the important role home inspections play in real estate transactions. Our goal is to provide realtors with a high-quality service for their clients. We provide scheduling of all inspections, including new construction, residential resales, construction in progress, and Radon testing as well as inspections for real estate deals helping buyers and sellers. We conduct home inspections throughout North Alabama, focusing on Huntsville, Madison, Decatur, Hartselle, and Athens, as well as some areas of Tennessee. We have appointments available from 8am to 5pm every business day and can even schedule weekend and evening inspections.
Mike basically had two days before he had to go south for the winter (he’s a full-time River) and made it work for us to give us reassurance in our purchase. He was fantastic. Easy to talk with. Excellent communication. It was a great experience. And he was very thorough. Would highly recommend
Heather Hansen: “We put a deposit on a trailer on the other side of the country essentially. We are in Utah and we put the deposit on a trailer in Indiana. We wanted an inspection for peace of mind even though the trailer dealer was very reputable
D. Reynolds: “Mr. Bill (owner and inspector) arrived early and completed most of the inspection before I arrived. Throughout the remainder of the inspection, Mr. Bill walked me around, explained what he was inspecting, building code maximums and minimums, and highlighted areas I should pay attention to as owner
To put this bluntly: do not use The Home Doctor for your home inspection if Lane Farmer will be your inspector. He simply does not know what he is doing. T He broke trim around the attic access, said nothing, did not fix it, then listed it as an item I needed to address. He mistook ceiling paint for a water leak and did not use a moisture sensor to test it. He claimed a window did not latch properly when what actually happened is he pushed it too far down when attempting to latch it closed, leading to the window pushing outward. Basically, he doesn’t know how to latch a window. He claimed an exterior faucet was broken when the issue was an attached hose splitter did not flow from both sides because one side was turned off. He claimed rotten trim and siding on the house when all of it had been replaced less than a month earlier, and Hardie board isn’t even capable of rot. It’s made of fiber cement. He claimed I needed to fix holes in the garage walls in spite of the fact that there were no holes. While I could go on for an exhaustive list of his failings, I’ll leave one last touch for this review: he could not figure out how to open a sliding glass fireplace door that does not latch or lock. I had a contractor address all of this as part of the request for repairs and the bulk of it could only be addressed in writing, stating there was no issue. In closing, do not use Lane Farmer’s services.
Very competent, very flexible, very responsive… more so than they should have needed to be. They adapted to the schedule and proved to be a competent resource. Fifth inspector/company we have worked with and hands down the best.
The report was extremely well done and thorough! I would highly recommend “The Home Doctor” for any inspection needs.
