Windy City Home Inspectors
Windy City Home inspection, Inc. was founded in 1999 by Jarrod Spadino. Jarrod chose to start his own home inspection company after serving four years in the Navy where he worked on the aircraft of the John F. Kennedy. His primary duty was to inspect aircraft (A-6 Intruders) before and after launches. Following his service in the Navy, Jarrod lived in Maryland for eight years where he worked as a window washer on high-rise buildings. You could often see him dangling from ropes several stories above the street as he performed his duties. Jarrod then moved to Illinois (where he now lives with his wife Pamela and two sons, Chase and Wylie) to pursue his goal of owning his own home inspection company. Windy City Home Inspection is now celebrating more than 20 years in educating home buyers through the home inspection process.
I hired this company because they were recommended through a friend who had worked with them (they were referred by a broker). When I called to setup the appointment, I asked specifically if they had experience giving inspections on houses that were partially gutted and they said Yes. I worked directly with the owner of the company, Jarrod Spadino, and I was left with much to be desired. First of all, he showed up 20 minutes late. Apparently there was traffic in Chicago on 290 that he did not foresee.
At the time, I was very happy with the inspection. The inspector was very reasonable and down to earth. I was attempting to purchase a house that was in poor condition for my first gut rehab project. The inspector showed up early, worked the place and gave me a few very good pieces of information that I ended up using. However, I found out just before purchasing that the city inspector had determined this property to have several code violations, many of which were minor.
When purchasing my first home, my Realtor recommended Windy City Home Inspection for my home inspection before closing on the property. After reviewing their Web site and my realtor’s assurance Windy City was one of the best in the area, I scheduled an appointment for one of their professionals to come and assess my home. The gentleman that arrived was early, very professional and did a fantastic job. He was helpful, answered questions, and offered tips on how to handle certain problems he found. His report was very thorough and helpful, and emailed to me before he even left the house.
During the inspection, he answered all of my concerns in a very knowledgeable and respectful manner. His inspection report was meticulously detailed and easy to understand. The visual aspects were very handy as well. Overall, great service! Will use again!
The inspector was early and moved quickly without sacrificing detail. We received a multi page report 6 hours later highlighting everything with pictures and detailed reports for each item. During the process, the inspector was patient and able to speak in terms to help me understand, as well as taught me about how things do/should work. I would 100% recommend working with Windy City!
He took 3 hours on a Saturday for the inspection to make sure we meet the contract deadline. He was also able to produce a detailed report on the same day. Jarrod was incredibly professional and helpful throughout the entire inspection. This is my first house purchase – Jarrod took his time to explain each aspect of the inspection and provide guidance on proper long-term maintenance considerations. I could be not be happier with Jarrod and Windy City.
